Heating your home is a long-term investment so before you even begin looking at heating systems, there are a few things you should consider. For instance, how will your future lifestyle changes affect your heating needs? Think ahead, and purchase a system that fulfils your current needs as well as your future ones. Please keep in mind that a good heating system increases the value of your home. The money you spend now is sure to pay off later.

Central Heating

A ducted central heating system provides comfortable and controlled heat in every room of your home. A timer and thermostat ensures that your selected temperatures are maintained where and when you want them. That means no more getting out of bed or going home from work to a cold home.

Your central heating system can be designed and installed to meet your individual lifestyle. Central heating offers heating flexibility through zoning. Zoning enables you to divide your home into sections so living areas can be heated during the day and sleeping areas at night, or whatever suits you. Zoning is not only practical but also economical.

What is ducted heating?

Ducted central heating comprises a central heating unit which is connected to a series of outlets. Positioned strategically throughout your home these outlets, or ducts, are installed either in the floor or ceiling.

The installation of the heating unit depends on your home. If your house is built on a concrete slab the unit is installed in the ceiling cavity. If your home has space underneath or a very low roofline, the unit is installed outside or under the floor. The ductwork, which connects the outlets to the heating unit, is neatly tucked away out of sight.

How does it work?

The heating unit draws air from inside your house into a return air grille. From here it flows into the heater where it’s warmed and then delivered into every room of your home, via the ducts, in the form of warm, gentle air.

When you want to heat your home the heating unit and circulation fan starts up. The fan will then deliver the warm air throughout your home. Once the temperature inside your home reaches your preset temperature, the burners inside the heating unit and the circulation fan will turn off automatically.

Real Flame Fires

Do you want the cosiness of an open fire but not the hassles and inconvenience of buying wood and coal, storing them and then lugging them inside on wet, cold nights? Then what you need is a Natural Gas real flame fire.

Natural Gas real flame fires look like an open fire but operate at the push of a button. Options include remote control as well as full electronic control.

Natural Gas real flame fires give you “the best of both worlds”. On one hand there is the old world cosy comfort of a real log fire. On the other hand there is the convenience of modern electronic and remote controls combined with efficient, clean Natural Gas.

A realistic flame pattern is only one of the advantages of the new, modern, Natural Gas real flame fires. With state-of-the-art electronics you can preset not only the temperature you want from the heater but also when you wish the heater to switch on and off.

Choose from a wide range of freestanding or built-in real flame fires. All models incorporate the latest safety devices.

Flued and Portable Heaters

The most obvious difference between a flued and a portable heater is that a flued heater is installed with a flue and is fixed in one location within your home. The flue takes the products of the combustion when the gas is burnt and expels them from the heater to the outside of the house.

A portable heater on the other hand can be moved from one room to another. Many homes with Natural Gas are fitted with gas sockets that are attached to either the wall or more commonly the floor. The heater is moved from one room to another by simply unplugging it from the gas socket and plugging it into another. A portable heater does not have a flue therefore the products of the gas combustion are expelled into the room in which the heater is working.

Flued and portable Natural Gas heaters come in two basic types, the radiant and the convector heater.

Radiant heaters offer direct heat, a bit like the sun and provide a warm cosy glow from the heater’s elements. Some radiant heaters are fitted with fans that provide the additional benefit from convection heating.

Convector heaters warm the room by blowing warm air into it via a high performance fan. Most convection heaters are fitted with electronic controls that include electronic ignition and thermostatic control of the room temperature. The more advanced models also offer automatic timing options plus remote control.
